Ant Control in Kansas City
Ants are one of the most common pest problems around KC homes, but not all ants are the same. Carpenter ants, acrobat ants, pavement ants, odorous house ants, and other species behave differently and require different treatment strategies.
The biggest mistake homeowners make is spraying visible ants while missing the nest, moisture source, or entry point. That may scatter the colony and make the problem worse.
If carpenter ants or acrobat ants are active inside walls, that can signal moisture-damaged wood. Those same conditions can also attract termites, which is why we recommend termite awareness when ants are found inside wall voids.

Ant Control — Common Questions
How do I know what kind of ant I have?+
Carpenter ants are large, black, and often found near hollow-sounding wood or small sawdust piles. Odorous house ants smell like rotten coconut when crushed. Pavement ants nest in and under concrete, driveways, and sidewalks. An inspection identifies the species and, more importantly, where the nest actually is.
Will spraying the ants I see get rid of the colony?+
No — surface spray usually just scatters the colony and can trigger it to split into satellite colonies, making the problem worse instead of better. Real control means finding the nest, the moisture source, or the entry point, not just treating the trail.
Are carpenter ants as bad as termites?+
Different damage, same warning sign. Carpenter ants don't eat wood like termites do — they tunnel through wood that's already moisture-damaged to build their nest. But that same moisture is also exactly what draws termites, which is why we check for termite risk any time we find carpenter or acrobat ants active inside a wall.
How much does ant control cost?+
Ant control is part of our general pest service, and it is quoted for your home after a free inspection rather than off a price list. Most homes end up on the quarterly plan, which includes free call-backs between visits if activity shows back up. Call or text and you get a firm number before any work starts.
How fast will the ants be gone?+
Activity noticeably drops within days once the colony is disrupted at the source. Some residual activity for a week or two afterward is normal as the treatment works through the colony — if it doesn't fully clear, we come back at no extra charge.
Do I need to leave the house during treatment?+
Usually not. Targeted application means most families and pets can stay home, and we'll give you simple prep and re-entry guidance up front so you know exactly what to expect.
