Rodent Control Requires More Than Bait

A real rodent program looks at entry points, sanitation issues, nesting areas, activity patterns, and long-term prevention.

Throwing bait around without identifying how rodents are getting inside is not a real solution.

Common Entry Areas

Garage doors, utility penetrations, foundation gaps, crawlspaces, vents, and poorly sealed exterior openings are common access points.

All Star Pest Solutions helps identify likely access areas and reduce rodent pressure.

Rodent Control — Common Questions

How do I know if it's mice or something bigger?+

Mouse droppings are small, about the size of a grain of rice; rat droppings are noticeably larger, closer to an olive pit. Either way, scratching in the walls or attic at night, gnaw marks on food packaging, and chewed wiring are all signs of activity. An inspection identifies the species and, more importantly, how they're getting in.

Is bait enough, or do I need entry points sealed too?+

Bait alone doesn't stop new rodents from getting in — if the entry points stay open, you're just replacing whatever you eliminate. Real control combines trapping or baiting with sealing the specific gaps rodents are using, which is the part that actually stops the problem long-term.

How are rodents getting into a house that looks sealed?+

A mouse can fit through a gap the size of a dime; a rat needs about a quarter-sized opening. Garage door gaps, utility line penetrations, foundation cracks, and vents are the most common entry points — and they show up even in newer, well-built homes.

Are rodents actually dangerous, or just a nuisance?+

More than a nuisance. Rodents chew electrical wiring, which is a real fire risk, contaminate food and countertops with droppings and urine, and can bring fleas or ticks into the house with them.

How long does it take to get rid of mice?+

You'll typically see activity drop within the first one to two weeks as entry points get sealed and trapping or bait stations do their job. A full clearance — confirming no more activity — usually takes three to four weeks given how rodents move and breed. We monitor and adjust as we go.

What does rodent control cost?+

It depends on the inspection — how many entry points need sealing and how active the infestation already is — so we give you a clear quote after we've actually looked at the property, not a flat number over the phone.
