The foundation perimeter is where the large majority of pest entry happens — cracks in poured concrete, gaps around utility penetrations (dryer vents, hose bibs, electrical conduit), unsealed expansion joints, and the sill plate where the framing sits on the foundation. Ants, spiders, crickets, and occasional invaders all use these same paths.

Older homes with block or stone foundations tend to have more of these gaps than newer slab construction, and mulch or soil piled up against the foundation — even a few inches above the intended grade line — gives pests a direct bridge to a crack that would otherwise be exposed and dry.

A foundation-focused treatment is a granular and liquid barrier applied at the base of the wall and into visible gaps, combined with specific sealing recommendations for anything we find that a treatment alone won't fix — a cracked weep hole, a gap around a spigot, or grade that needs to be pulled back from the siding.
