Stink Bug Control in Kansas City
Brown marmorated stink bugs are the mottled brown shield-shaped bugs that gather on sunny siding in fall and turn up indoors all winter. They are harmless but smell when crushed.
How we handle stink bugs
Sealing is what lasts: window and door trim, soffit and attic vents, siding gaps and utility lines. A timed exterior treatment in September on the walls where they gather reduces the numbers that get in, but on its own it is short-term.
Once they are inside the walls, treatment can't reach them well — they come out on warm days through winter and early spring.
What you can do
Seal and screen before September. Vacuum the ones indoors (a dedicated vacuum or a knee-high stocking over the hose keeps the smell out of your vacuum) rather than crushing them.
